KernSafe Technologies creates first free iSCSI Initiator for Windows CE

iSCSI technology allows to connect to SCSI based devices such as storage devices (HDD), printers, scanners etc. using existing Ethernet or Wi-Fi network. This protocol allows clients (Initiators) to send SCSI commands to SCSI storage hosts (Targets). This will benefit to firms and individuals to consolidate their storage into data centers while it will appear for host system that those storage devices are locally connected. Differ from Fibre Channel, which require expensive cabling, iSCSI can be used on already existing IP based networks.

The Windows CE is a widely used embedded operating system in terminal computer (as while as thin client and zero client) and windows mobile.

KernSafe free WinCE iSCSI Initiator enables connection to a server that is running any iSCSI SAN like iStorage Server from any Windows CE based devices, over Wi-Fi, wired or 3G/4G networks. KernSafe WinCE iSCSI Initiator can be used over existing Wi-Fi network to create storage area networks (SANs). That will bring the benefits of additional storage and keeping up to date with iSCSI server.

It can be installed on any Windows CE device and phone. Upon installation it can be used to connect to already existing iSCSI Targets (user may create it by free / commercial version of iStorage Server). For security reasons you may use CHAP user authorization. It can be used to connect to partition or image file on host – copy, move or delete data without any limitations just like physical hard disk and memory card. Additional storage will appear in device or phone as a local hard disk or Memory Card. Maximum memory card capacity limitations used by phone don’t apply here since none memory card was physically inserted in phone, it will only appear for phone that it is physical memory card. It is ideal for use at Embedded industry and office  as well as in home since it will allow to connect to storage via existing wired, Wi-Fi and even 3G/4G network. KernSafe WinCE iSCSI Initiator is software based, and don’t need any special hardware to work. It will function on any Windows CE device.
