Being a full-featured and powerful iSCSI target software,
KernSafe iSCSI SAN is designed to be flexible and suitable for a wide range of
applications. As we know, KernSafe iSCSI SAN 1.x-5.x has
provided native support for x86, x64 and Itanium based windows systems, and
supported for a variety of initiators (OS) and applications, such as Windows, Windows clustering
and Hyper-v, Linux, Solaris, Citrix Xen
Server, VMware ESX Server and so on.
Supports a series of enterprise features like snapshots, server pool, IPv6, and lost of device types.
In new version 6.0, KernSafe iSCSI SAN core architecture
improvement which brings a powerful key features, which is:
Storage Pool, a 100% SDS which can manage all disks and make them as pooled with the ability to create arbitrary, dynamic block volumes that can be utilized by any clients.
These volumes are allowed to create unlimited and zero-copy snapshots. Storage Pool provides ways for building data in redundancy and scale-up, performance scaled by adding more devices.
User can use All-Flash or Hybrid (SSD + HDD) disk arrays.
Storage Pool supports three type of volumes:
- RAW. RAW mapping over multiple devices, provides the fastest performance.
- Thin. Dynamically allocating space while using, it supports unlimited zero-copy snapshots, and it is same performance after all data allocated.
- RAW. Log Structured is almost the same as Thin Provisioning, but all data writing is sequential, it is write optimizing for HDDs.
Detailed Upgrades from V5.0 to V6.0:
1. Add Storage Pool feature that mentioned above.
2. Add WEB based management, which can manage all platforms (Windows, Linux and Mac OS X) iSCSI SAN and can run all platforms.
3. Improved performance for concurrent I/O.
4. Optimized daemon scripts for Linux and Hyper-Converged Platform.
5. Improved HA features on all platforms.
6. Improved synchronous and asynchronous replication on Linux and Hyper-Converged platform.
7. Fully supports VMWare VAAI, ATS, Offload-Copy etc.
8. GUI improved.
9. Fixed existing BUGs in GUI and iSCSI SAN core services.
