Datacenter is a distributed software RAID feature in KernSafe iSCSI SAN. It lets you build a RAID5-style target by combining devices located on different servers. Unlike a standard local RAID5 configuration, this approach can improve availability when one server becomes unavailable. Creating a Datacenter Device Follow the steps below to create a Datacenter device. Step 1. Right-click Advanced Targets in the left tree of the KernSafe iSCSI SAN Management Console and choose Create Target.
Select Datacenter in the Configuration Type window. Step 2. Add the participating targets to the Datacenter device.
Click Add to configure the participating targets.
Enter the host name or IP address of the server and click Discovery to locate the target you want to use.
Note: Like a standard RAID5 set, a Datacenter device requires at least three component devices. Step 3. Set the authorization mode.
Select an authorization mode. If you need more information, see
Authorization Mechanism. Step 4. Enter the target name.
Click Finish to complete iSCSI target creation. | |
