A CDP device provides continuous data protection and allows you to restore data to a specific point in time. A CDP linked target lets you create a new target based on an existing target at a selected recovery point. Creating a CDP Linked Target Device Follow the steps below to create a CDP linked target device. Step 1. Select Service -> Create Target from the Storage pop-up menu in the main interface of KernSafe iSCSI SAN.
Choose Advanced Device in the Device Type group. Press the Next button to continue. Step 2. Select the CDP Linked Target device in the iSCSI Advanced Device window.
Press the Next button to continue. Step 3. Configure the CDP parameters.
Select the base target from the list of existing targets. In Time Point, choose the point in time to which you want to revert the target. The linked target will expose the data that existed in the base target at that moment. Press the Next button to continue. Step 4. Choose the authorization mechanism.
If you select Inherit security roles from global settings, all client security roles are taken from the global settings. Otherwise, each client can have its own permissions. Click Next to continue. Step 5. Enter the target name.
Press the Finish button to complete creation of the CDP linked target device.
