Unable to complete Backup Successfully.

Post by PaulHood » Fri Aug 13, 2010 1:19 am

HI All,

I am having great difficulties in getting a successful backup and have reproduced the problem on two systems.

System 1.
Host Windows Server 2008, Client Windows SBS 2008 Premium with Symantec Backup Exec 12.5 - backup of 350GB to LTO4 (Generic ISCSI to the tape drive).

System 2.
Host Windows Server 2008, Client Windows SBS 2008 Premium with Symantec Backup Exec 2010 - backup of 160GB to LTO4 (Generic ISCSI to the tape drive).

Despite months to tweaking the job we are able to get a backup of xxxGB however it always fails at the final part of the Job with error:
Job ended: 12 August 2010 at 23:07:35
Completed status: Canceled
The job was canceled because the response to a media request alert was Cancel, or because the alert was configured to automatically respond with Cancel, or because the Backup Exec Job Engine service was stopped.

It’s almost like KernSafe iStorageServer miss handles the end completion of the job (with or without an automated eject).
This happens with versions - 1.6 and 2.0

Regards,

Paul Hood.
