Before purchase

Post by HillBij » Wed Jan 27, 2010 1:41 pm

Hi all!

I have tested some Software iSCSI target. Now I want to choose from two - KernSafe and another.
From here 3 questions:
The maximum size of Partion-to-Disk bridge?
The maximum size of VHD-file?
What your plans rather MPIO?

Thx for help.

1, No limitation by iStorage Server, depends on partition table, MBR is 2T, a GPT disk can be up to 2^64 logical blocks in length. Logical blocks are commonly 512 bytes in size.
2, According to Virtual Hard Disk file specification, the maximum size for a virtual hard disk is 2,040 gigabytes (GB).
3, Is your means iStorage Serve MPIO Compatible? Or other means?
iStorage Server Standard or higher supports multi-connections, multi Ethernet interfaces for MPIO.

Mirror is supported by the current version.
In our plan, failover (HA) feature will to be added after about 3 months.

I have new questions!

What can you say about licensing? (ex. Updates)
The Internet is necessary to the server with KernSafe?
How i can deploy update?

Hi,
here is a feature comparison for the licenses:
http://www.kernsafe.com/product.aspx?id ... ense+Types

At this time, update need to download new version and deploy a setup for upgrade.
Internet is not necessary for update if you can copy files on to your server.

Trial version is a "full-featured" standard license, but only 20 days available.
