Shared image Read Only diskless boot

Post by neogenesys » Thu Mar 01, 2012 8:23 pm

Hello,

We are interested in using your diskless boot documentation and iscsi product for a diskless multi OS boot solution for schools, soho, etc... Would like to have several machines sharing the same boot image on read only and the special virtual write mode for data generated on each session with automatic deletion on each reboot or option to apply or maintain changes.

Also a boot menu with available boot images for the end user to choose its working image (windows 7, linux, etc...)

Can these functions be done and how?

thank you so much for the help.

Yes, the functions can be done by iStorage Server plus some third party software & solutions.
You need these softwares:
1, iStorage Server
2, GPXE
3, MS DHCP or other DHCP Server
4, TFTP server.

For sharing with one image, you can make all client have virtual write access.
You can follow this white paper to create this solution:
