Slow iSCSI performance

Post by oso » Mon Feb 28, 2011 1:29 pm

Hi i have purchased iStorage server, but I'm disappointed with performance of this target, my setup HP bl 460c G1 servers target is using SBC 600 storage server with 6x10K disks raid 5, with MS target i have no problem to achieve maximum performance in ATTO about 130 mb/s for write and 120 for read, network utilization is almost 100 %, but with iStorage i have only about 30 mb/s for read and about 40 mb/s for write.
I have little bit tuneup TCP and enable jumbo packet with MTU 9000, on 1 gB switch is also jumbo enabled. iSCSI traffic is going through separate VLAN. So where is the problem :?: :?: :?:

Hello,

Could you tell me which type of production are you building and using what initiator?
We can easily get more than 80 M Bytes / s in a GBE Network and RAID 5 environment.
Please follow the topic of Improve iSCSI performance. If you are using GB Ethernet here is a tool may help you:
http://www.speedguide.net/downloads.php
To use it, go to the Advance Settings page, select Optimal option and press the Apply Settings button, and then reboot your server.
BTW: if your initiator is running in Windows, you neet to set up network configuration on both server and client machines.

Charles.

Hi Charles I have plan to use iSCSI target as bakup disk for DPM 2010 and also as file storage for our application, target will be installed on Windows 2008 server.
