I'm trying to set up an iSCSI system with 1 target and 1 initiator, wired directly to each other.
The volume mounts immediately, but any operation (copy/erase/partition) makes the initiator hang.
Target:
Kernsafe 2.80 on WinXP 32bit SP3
Built in Intel GigE NIC, Static IP
Hard wired to initiator
Internal 1TB drive
Type: Disk Drive, Physical Disk
Anonymous authorization
Tried with and w/o persistent exclusive access
Checked "Report as readonly device when initiator cannot get write access"
Unchecked multiple initiators w/ full access
Initiator:
Macbook, OS X 10.6.4
GlobalSAN 4.1.0.279
Built in GigE NIC, static IP
Hard wired to target
Tried w/o error detection and with header-only
Tried to copy to the disk and erase it. Tried deleting the partition on the target side and partitioning on the Mac. All gave the same result, the disk operation hangs as soon as it starts. I have to reboot to bring the system back to a clean state.
Tested a standard Samba copy, worked. Writes fast although reads were slow.
Couldn't find any relevant entries in the target's Event Viewer logs. iStorage Server doesn't log events at the connection or I/O level.
From the Mac's log:
