Upgrade:
Improves Partition-to-Disk feature, re-format, re-partition are now supported.
Adds a feature in HA that user can verify data consistency between two nodes.
Adds a feature in HA that user can manually synchronize data between two nodes.
Adds a SMTP notification feature for HA.
Fix the bug that client machine will reveive error reports in Event Log when using construct partition table option.
Fix a bug that iStorage Server won't start when server has more than 16 CPU or CPU cores.

Hello. Could I install the beta version of iStorage in the deployment ready server without uninstalling version 2.20? I just want to confirm before installing this version since I have MS Cluster and MS SQL2008 already setup for high availability. Also, do you have any requirements/recommends for upgrading from an existing older version?

Hello, I also have a setup like Mr. Kahn and am wondering if I can install over the previous version without having to re-build my targets and applications. Also, I am wondering what the upgrade procedure will be when these new features and fixes exit beta status.

To upgrade to the new version, please do not uninstall the old version, just run the new version installer, it will upgrade automatically.

Here are two points recommended:
Please confirm your system disk have enough space to store temporary data when partner server fail.
Please make sure there is no initiator connects to the target if it will be synchronized (Creating application or Manual Synchronizing).

Hello again.

I am using Windows Server 2008 Ent. 64bit edition.

When I tried to install v2.28 beta on top of v2.20 I got this error. I tried installing several times, same result and the iStorage service won't start:

It seems that the setup cabinet was broken by some reasons, did you have tried re-download a one and install it?

Ok, after I downloaded the new version (2.29), the installation went fine. However, when I go to Applications and try to verify one, I get this error:

Just to make sure, my target has no initiator connected yet. However, the sync function was successful. I have used the smtp messaging feature, but I have gotten any email message yet, although the management console has crashed when I tried to remotely connect to another machine's iStorage Server. So, I just closed the remote task and restarted the iStorage Server and things started to work fine for local server.

One major advice for users: If you are running a failover application from a target, make sure to manually fail is over to another server first, before attempting to upgrade iStorage Server. Otherwise, you may experience lengthy recovery wait. Because to the application, the target has failed completely and righly so, since iStorage has to restart while app, such as SQL is still running and sql is thinking I have no storage anymore, thus hangs the app.

v2.29 is excellent!!! It allows to verify sync between two mirrors and then do a manual sync if needed. I like this feature. Additionally, unlike v2.20, after I did sync, even with some targets connected, the sync was successful.
