Xenserver 6.02 Problem

Post by turbo124 » Sun Oct 21, 2012 2:25 am

Hi Guys,

Attempting to connect up a Xenserver 6.02 HOST to KernSafe and we are encountering the following problem.

We are able to create target in KernSafe. We can also probe the target from xenserver successfully. On connection we confirm 'format' drive, however this fails (/var/log/SMlog fails at the dd if=/dev/zero of=...... part)

It appears that the volume is only read only and XS6 fails to initialise. We've followed the step by step manual, however we are unable to proceed.

Kernsafe is loaded onto windows 2008 R2, the volume we are mounting on is a 2TB partition (MBR) linked back through a Areca 1882ix RAID card in RAID 10.

System is a DL180 G6, dual X5570 processors with 96GB ram.

Any pointers greatly appreciated.

Thanks
Dave

Hi Dave,
Here I can give you a few suggestions:
1. Please check if you are using the newest version of iStorage Server 2.84, if not, please download it from our website and upgrade it.
2. Please check if initiators have full access, our product provides 3 level of accessing, you can click on the target node in left tree panel, and then choose initiators tab in the right side, you will see each initiator's access, if its not full access, you may not set up authorization properly.
Please let us know if you need further help.

Hi There,

We are running 2.8.4

in the logs we get an error.

Write data to partition error, error code: 5.

We can't find the list of error codes to work out what this error refers to.

Thanks for your information, I understood your problem.
That means you are exporting a partition to XenServer, in this case, you need to choose the option "Persistent exclusive access on this device", otherwise, Windows will deny some write request that cause this problem, and even, you may get data corruption.

Hi Olivia,

Persistant access has also been checked and we still have this problem.

We can reproduce the problem, and we got the reason why can't working with XenServer 6.02. We will release new version in a week.
