Fail over cluster FAIL!

Post by tubular031 » Tue Nov 23, 2010 1:42 pm

I set up 2 windows 2003 servers with the trial version of istore. Then followed the instructions on the site to create a high avilability san for VMware. I put an XP vm on the "cluster" and started it up. All was good and the 2 istore servers showed status running, both paths were active in vmware. I then pulled the plug on kern-02 (was the active i/o path in vmware). I expected it to keep the VM up and running but it did not. Vmware now shows the active i/o path pointing to kern-01 but the datastore is not accessable.

the istore manager shows the active connection under initators but still my data store is not accessable.

Clustering = FAIL!! I had high hopes for this software.

If you test failover feature, by stopping iStorage Service, that will cause this problem, because iStorage Server will think you want to enter maintenance mode, and "inform" all initiators to logout from it.

We have just released a new version of iStorage Server, I suggest you to download and upgrade to the newest version.
If the problem persists, please check the following conditions:
1, Check if the two targets have enabled "Multiple initiators with full access connected” option.
2, Created both application on each of iSCSI targets.
